She howled a lot when we left so we just left the door open. She seemed to like the couch better than her crate and howled a lot less.-chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01044367226602946281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26805135.post-16097368587758254672009-05-11T11:09:00.000-05:002009-05-11T11:09:00.000-05:00You know how you can usually leave a baby on the f...You know how you can usually leave a baby on the floor in the car seat? It worked out just fine.

Welcome, Bistro!niobehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10685766216611639434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26805135.post-37528022140425642012009-05-10T21:27:00.000-05:002009-05-10T21:27:00.000-05:00Honestly I've had dogs since I was 12, and I still...Honestly I've had dogs since I was 12, and I still worry *all* the time about how on earth I'm going to manage our dogs and a baby. It's normal (to worry, that is). And I guess we'll just have to figure it out as it comes.

And like others said, everything is still new for you and Bistro, he should calm down significantly before a baby comes along. Even our wicked crazy shepherd *has* calmed down a lot.

For dealing with his energy, try buying treat balls and such.. things where he has to work hard to get the treats out. It exercises their mind and keeps them occupied. Also even just practicing commands like sit/down/stay/come for a little while can tire them out pretty good.Nataliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16003334714597731355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26805135.post-50922163402389527402009-05-10T19:56:00.000-05:002009-05-10T19:56:00.000-05:00You can do it! You'll be fine with a dog and a baby. By that time, he will have learned his boundaries and his anxiety will have been a thing of the past.RBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17739978478314076003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26805135.post-28714818272332626292009-05-10T15:30:00.000-05:002009-05-10T15:30:00.000-05:00Rachel, you have only had Bistro for about 48 hour...Rachel, you have only had Bistro for about 48 hours! You need to give yourself some time to get used to him and vice versa. Plus, rescue dogs can come with some baggage, etc. Could you baby gate him into a bathroom or a laundry room or something so he is confined, but not stuck in his crate? When you bring home a baby, Bistro will probably be much calmer and you will do fine! :-) Don't get down on yourself or Bistro!MtnGirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01882656639070055494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26805135.post-26736599327117402382009-05-10T15:07:00.000-05:002009-05-10T15:07:00.000-05:00Adding a dog to your household is a huge change an...Adding a dog to your household is a huge change and your concerns are legitimate, but you can do this.
